In detail

Does your design comply with the Dutch Building Code and Design Brief (PvE)?

Maarten van der Niet: "In principle, the Dutch government does not allow you to build or renovate without a licence. When submitting a planning permission (WABO), the applicant needs to demonstrate that the building complies with existing laws and regulations. We will verify whether the building plan complies with every requirement regarding building physics and energy as laid down in the Building Code (Bouwbesluit, Dutch building regulations). Or when a client has specific requirements with regards to the Design Brief. If your plan does not comply, we have all the necessary knowledge and experience available to provide you with a sound, pragmatic advice on design adjustments.

Our approach

M+P verifies that building plans comply with the Dutch Building Code and with a Design Brief. Building plans come in a wide variety. M+P scans the basic premise and determines which aspects with regards to building physics and energy are important to your building plan. This way you will get a quick overview of relevant information for the licence application and the associated costs.

Requirements with regards to building physics and energy

M+P checks whether the building plan complies with every requirement regarding building physics and energy as laid down in the Building Code (Bouwbesluit), for example:

  • sound insulation of façade

  • air and contact soundproofing

  • echo in circulation areas

  • surface condensation (cold bridge)

  • daylight

  • thermal insulation

  • energy rating

For the operation/sale/rental of the building, it is furthermore important to test other building-physical features, such as:

  • internal condensation

  • insolation / shading

  • wind climate

  • vibration nuisance

User-friendlier than the Building Code

If a good Design Brief is lacking and the Building Code imposes insufficient requirements to enable the comfortable use of a building, we can create a Design Brief that fits your situation.
